EYELID LIFT | BLEPHAROPLASTY

WHAT IS EYELID SURGERY?

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Surgery can be performed on either the upper or lower lids, or both.

Whether you want to improve your appearance, or are experiencing functional problems with your eyelids, this procedure can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes. These procedures are performed within the privacy of our accredited AAAHC Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery facilities.

Specifically, eyelid surgery can treat:

  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
  • Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids that reveal white below the iris
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

EYELID LIFT PATIENT TESTIMONIAL

Meet Joanne, 39

Mother, wife and animal lover

“I am ready to get started on my journey today.”

Headshot photo of patient Joanne before eyelid lift surgery.

BEFORE

Joanne is an animal advocate who opened a petting zoo in central Ohio. While she’s embraced all aspects of nature, she wasn’t happy with the changes she started seeing in her eyes. So, Joanne sought out treatment, and now she is thrilled with what she sees!
Joanne’s Recommended Treatments
UPPER BLEPHAROPLASTY to remove excess eyelid skin and puffiness caused by herniated fat pads.
PHENOL PEEL to diminish under eye wrinkles and creases. In addition, this specialized peel removes the dark circles from under the eyes.
LATISSE® to grow lashes fuller, longer and darker.

“I love having fuller, longer, darker lashes!” — Joanne

Joanne felt that her eyes made her look older and fatigued. After an in-depth consultation, Dr. Diamantis felt she was a good candidate for cosmetic eyelid lift. During the time of these pictures, Joanne was two months out of an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty). Now, she feels and looks great!

WHO ARE GOOD CANDIDATES FOR EYELID SURGERY?

In general, good candidates for this procedure include:

  • Healthy individuals
  • Non-smokers
  • Individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for eyelid surgery
  • Individuals without serious eye conditions

Remember, the eyelids are part of the face. The appearance of a drooping upper lid may also be due to relaxation of the forehead skin and eyebrow. Sometimes a drooping eyelid is caused by stretching an upper eyelid muscle, called the levator.

Dr. Diamantis will evaluate your anatomy thoroughly to determine the causes of your eyelid appearance, and what procedures might best remedy them!

FAQ FOR BLEPHAROPLASTY

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the eyes. This eyelid surgery removes excess skin, fat and puffiness for a youthful refreshed appearance. Say goodbye to droopy lids and under eye bags – plus enjoy a quick easy recovery. You can return to your social events within two weeks.
Blepharoplasty costs typically range from $3,500–$7,500, depending on whether we’re rejuvenating the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both, as well as the extent of the correction needed. During your consultation, we’ll tailor your blepharoplasty plan and provide clear, upfront pricing—no hidden fees.
Most patients experience a two week period for downtime with swelling and bruising improving significantly after the first few days. Most patients can socialize within 7 days.
Results from upper eyelid surgery can last 10 years or more, and in many cases, are permanent. Lower eyelid surgery results are also long-lasting, often two decades or more, especially when fat is removed.
Blepharoplasty candidates often have droopy eyelids, under-eye bags, or excess skin that give them a tired appearance. While many patients are in their mid-40s or older, younger individuals may qualify based on genetics and eyelid structure.
Blepharoplasty is generally not considered painful. Most patients experience mild discomfort, tightness, or irritation similar to dry eyes. This is easily managed with over the counter pain relievers and eye drops.
Under Dr. Diamantis’ artistic expertise blepharoplasty creates a natural refreshed and rested look. Never the overdone “deer in the headlights” result. We focus on making you look alert, youthful and like your best self.
Lower eyelid surgery can permanently reduce under eye bags by removing or repositioning fat. Though aging continues, results are long-lasting ensuring a more youthful refreshed appearance for years to come.
Yes, upper blepharoplasty can improve vision if excess skin blocks your sight. However, if you pass your state’s driver vision test, insurance often denies coverage. While results are lasting, insurance approval is rare.
Upper blepharoplasty removes sagging skin or excess fat from upper eyelids, while lower blepharoplasty addresses under eye bags, puffiness, and wrinkles. Many patients combine both eye rejuvenation options with cost saving bundles.
